Coming from a five-year steady relationship, my boyfriend and I are always looking for new date ideas to ignite our spark again that won’t break the bank, significantly more than ever in today’s economy.

Whether that is cozying up on the couch, taking in the fall foliage, or baking a delicious pumpkin pie together!

1. Carve Pumpkins

I know this is such a cliche, but carving pumpkins together is a perfect fall date idea that costs only as much as a pumpkin. Or even better make it TWO dates in one by picking out your pumpkins together at a pumpkin patch! If carving isn’t up your alley you could even try a trendier version and paint your pumpkins instead, and we all know paint can get interesting… IYKYK🌶

My best memories as a kid involve carving pumpkins with my family so what better way to connect with your partner than by making new memories together? Who knows he might even do the classic wrapping arms around you and help scoop out the guts… (IK gross but romantic right)!

2. Bake Cookies

I don’t know about you but my boyfriend and I are HUGE sweets lovers, especially cookies! Heck, we skip the baked cookies and eat just the cookie dough (so far never gotten salmonella.. is that just a myth?). So whip out your cell phones look up a cookie dough recipe you can make with just ingredients around your kitchen and enjoy some quality bonding over the love of sweets!

3. Picnic

What better way to romanticize the fall season than a picnic? Grab your favorite foods, blanket, and some hot cider, and cozy up under the fall colors while you take in nature and your partner’s presence! To make this super inexpensive you could make some sandwiches or even just snacky foods right out of your fridge, and skip the cost of gas by picnicking in your yard or a close park!

4. Bonfire

Um.. hello…. bonfire + s’mores + your significant other = the most perfect and cozy fall date idea! Nothing gets better than the great outdoors, gooey chocolatey goodness, and a roaring fire to mimic your roaring desire for each other (okay, okay, gross.. can you tell I’m a romantic❤️️)! But seriously go out and cozy up to your partner! An indoor alternative would be to pull up a fire video on your TV or computer and cuddle up around it while watching a cozy fall movie! I love everything about fall festivals and what better way to spread your love for each other through your local community as well? Take in your town’s fall festival and enjoy the rewards from the harvest season together! Check out the local’s stalls and get cozy with a homemade blanket, or some homemade apple crisp or hot apple cider! And it’s FREE… with obviously a donation to your town if you so choose!

6. DIY fall photoshoot

There is no better way to showcase your love than through photos of you two together (and it’s free)! Throw on a cute fall outfit or plan a couple of different ones to change into and scope out the perfect fall background! You don’t even need fancy equipment just your phone and something it can prop up against and you’re good to go! Now off to capture your love for one another!

My boyfriend and I love to bond in the kitchen while listening to music whether that would be cooking together or me cooking while my boyfriend makes me laugh with his goofy dance moves. Whatever your role may be prepare and eat a fall staple meal together! Take it a notch up and bake a dessert as well! This is also a low-cost way instead of going out to eat and is more romantic in my eyes by staying home together.

Another cliche date idea but going to an orchard together can be a really cute and affordable date idea to do this fall! You could even take some of your photoshoot photos amongst the apple trees or with your bushel of apples you picked together! The possibilities of fun and romance are endless!
